Welcome to African Jewish Voices, the pioneering platform dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories of Jewish communities in Africa. As the first media initiative of its kind, we are committed to documenting, preserving, and sharing the rich and diverse experiences of black African Jews—past, present, and future.
Our mission is to provide a platform for African Jews to tell their own stories. Through our network of Jewish writers covering over 15 African countries, we highlight events, daily life, and Jewish practices in communities across West, Central, East, and Southern Africa. From long-established Jewish populations to emerging and returning communities, African Jewish Voices shines a spotlight on narratives that are often overlooked by mainstream media.
We cover a wide range of topics, including Jewish festivals, celebrations, educational initiatives, and sporting events. Our platform also reviews Jewish books, explores political issues, and addresses antisemitism. In addition, we provide coverage of Israeli and global Jewish news, ensuring that African Jewish voices are part of the broader international conversation.
In addition to covering Jewish life within Africa, our platform also seeks to capture the achievements and contributions of African Jews living abroad. Whether in Israel, Europe, or the United States, African Jews are making remarkable strides in various fields, and African Jewish Voices is committed to sharing these inspiring stories with the world.
Since our official launch in February 2024, African Jewish Voices has rapidly grown, but our roots trace back to over seven years of Jewish media work in Nigeria. What began as a localized effort gradually expanded to encompass voices from across the continent, culminating in the creation of a dedicated pan-African platform for Jewish storytelling.
Our platform is more than just a news outlet—it is an academic resource, a historical archive, and a cultural bridge. International students, researchers, and curious readers alike turn to African Jewish Voices to gain insight into the lived experiences of African Jews. By capturing contemporary Jewish activities and traditions, we are preserving a vital piece of African history for generations to come.
To accommodate diverse audiences and provide inclusive content, African Jewish Voices also intends to tells stories through audio formats, ensuring accessibility for all kinds of online users. Additionally, to reflect the linguistic diversity of our continent and beyond, we plan to introduce site translation options for French, Portuguese, and Hebrew.
We employ a blend of text, imagery, video, and audio to bring stories to life. Our articles are crafted by professional writers and seasoned journalists, many of whom manage their own blogs and contribute to leading publications in Israel and the United States. This ensures that our content is not only authentic but also of the highest quality.
To remain engaged with our readers and followers, African Jewish Voices actively operates across multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Through these channels, we continue to foster conversations, share updates, and build a connected community around African Jewish narratives.
